Could it just be hemorrhoids?

I have had a line of skin between my anus and vagina that's swollen, painful, and itchy, for a few days now, it doesn't bother me when I'm having bowel movements or sitting down, but is extremely uncomfortable when I'm standing or moving around. I've been using preparation H and it relieves the discomfort but I'm concerned that it may be more than just hemorrhoids, any ideas?
