My hemorrhoid just popped?

I had my first hemorrhoid about 6 years ago but never saw a doctor about it. I used the preparation H cream and it went away on it's own in about 3-4 weeks. I am now dealing with the same problem again but this time it's much bigger and much more painful. I haven't had much activity in the past 5 days or so due to the pain. I decided to go out and take my dog for a walk since the poor guy has been stuck inside for so long. When I got back I noticed my boxers were a little wet. I thought it was just the preparation H cream that had rubbed against it. I went to change my boxers and suddenly I noticed there was blood all over my boxers. I don't remember this happening last time I had a hemorrhoid. I've used the preparation H wipes and put on some more cream. I am sorta freaking out but too embarrassed to tell anyone about it. Is there anything I should/could do about it?
