Why do they call it an asteroid?

Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

If i remember right, aster is the greek prefix for star, and -oid is object. Seeing an asteroid in space is because it reflects the suns light, making it a moving reflective surface, like the moon. In ancient times, all things that glowed in the sky were stars, or asters of some kind. So it's because it's a glowing object like a star that moves in the sky.

Hemo is also greek, meaning or referring to blood or tissue, like hemoglobin. Oid, again, is object, so it's an object with blood.

EDIT: Just looked up -oid, it means an object, but also, a bad immitation, so an object badly immitating a star (aster).

Asteroids, sometimes called minor planets or planetoids, are small Solar System bodies in orbit around the Sun, especially in the inner Solar System; they are smaller than planets but larger than meteoroids.

Hemorrhoids (AmE), haemorrhoids (BrE), are swelling and inflammation of veins in the rectum and anus. The anatomical term "hemorrhoids" technically refers to "cushions of tissue filled with blood vessels at the junction of the rectum and the anus".[1]

You made me look at some nasty pictures. Are you happy?
