No one is immune to hemorrhoids. The causes of increased pressure include straining during bowel movements and often hemorrhoids are attributed to repetitive heavy lifting and straining during lifting.
Especially if one is not used to hard physical labor, a sudden increase in physical activity, such as helping a friend move large objects, or lifting heavy items alone, can cause an immediate onset of hemorrhoids. This condition usually leads to the painful itching sensation brought on by the sudden increase in pressure to the area. It usually subsides, if not too serious, by itself, in a matter of days as long as no more heavy lifting is done.
There are some good reasons to avoid heavy lifting
There is reason to believe that hemorrhoids are caused by jobs requiring heavy lifting. Be careful next time if you want to leave a heavy object, think twice!
It is important for all hemorrhoid sufferers to recognize their condition and do whatever they can to alleviate the symptoms and prevent flare-ups.
Frequent heavy lifting or holding your breath when lifting heavy objects can cause a sudden increase of pressure in blood vessels.
At some point in our lives we all have to experience heavy lifting of some kind. If you are experiencing a bout of hemorrhoids at the time of lifting something heavy, you will cause some aggravation to the hemorrhoids.
By lifting this weight you are pulling all the forces of gravity down towards your anus. This is the usual process that we need, in order to get the extra power needed for the lift.
If on the other hand you were taught how to lift heavy objects. Avoiding as much as possible gravity pressure. You wouldn't damage yourself so severely.
The aggravation can cause hemorrhoid bleeding, or more swelling, or the hemorrhoid to come straight out of the anus with internal hemorrhoids. So it is advisable to avoid lifting any heavy objects with hemorrhoids.
Straining during lifting is another reason for hemorrhoid symptoms. Straining can also happen when you're trying to have a bowel movement. This may happen if you're constipated or if you have diarrhea. It may also happen if you sit on the toilet too long.
Being careful during lifting and avoiding heavy lifting is one of the ways to prevent hemorrhoids. Heavy lifting causes hemorrhoids because of increased intraabdominal pressure. This increased pressure is just like straining at stool in that the pressure obstructs the flow of blood through the veins causing them to swell.
