Better toilet habits will help to prevent hemorrhoids. Straining on the toilet puts a great pressure on the rectal and anal veins - causing them to distend and swell in a hemorrhoid. Normal bowel movement should be easy and there are some better toilet habits that can help avoid hemorrhoids.
When an individual experiences hemorrhoids there are some habits that can help avoid them. One is to try to avoid straining. Straining on the toilet puts a great pressure on the rectal and anal veins which causes them to distend and swell in a hemorrhoid. Postponing bowel movement regularly can also help reduce the capability of the abdominal muscle to push out stool. So don’t wait.
There are some good bathroom habits to help prevent hemorrhoids
One is to avoid straining. Straining on the toilet puts a great pressure on the rectal and anal veins, which causes them to distend and swell in a hemorrhoid. Instead of straining wait and try again later.
Postponing bowel movements can also help the capability of the abdominal muscle to push out the stool. It can also cause the stool to harden making it harder to pass. So If at all possible, do not wait until 'nature calls' to visit the toilet as this means that your stool may be hard and dry making it more demanding on your muscles and tissue to pass.
To minimize straining it is better for you to not sit on the toilet for long periods. Not reading while you are trying to have a bowel movement is a much better habit to have than reading. The continued strain on the anus is increased past the healthier time of about 5 minutes on the toilet and it only takes 2 to 5 minutes for a normal bowel movement.
Another better habit to establish is the use of soft, plain white toilet paper. Don’t wipe harshly with it. If after wiping you feel the need to be cleaner than dry toilet paper can get you, moisten a bit of the paper with water and wipe gently instead of scrubbing at yourself or use a baby wipe to finish cleaning. You want to avoid toilet paper with dyes, perfumes and synthetic materials. Only use soft toilet paper that is free of colors, perfumes and synthetic materials.
Better bathroom habits like avoiding straining, not prolonging having a bowel movement, and limiting the time in the bathroom will help in the prevention of hemorrhoids. Also the use of soft, white toilet paper for cleaning and avoiding toilet paper with heavy perfumes, synthetic materials or dyes can help in the prevention of hemorrhoids.
