Hemorrhoid Treatment Options: Super Freezing

Hemorrhoids may be difficult to heal and treat. If alternative at home methods do not work, a natural removal technique is super freezing or cryotherapy.

This hemorrhoid treatment of ‘super freezing’ is self explanatory from the name itself.  This process has also come to be known as cryotherapy.  The hemorrhoid is actually frozen to prevent and remove the growth and/or prevent further growth.  The use of ice water for hemorrhoids has been used throughout medical history.

With advancements, there are now easier and more therapeutic ways to freeze the area.

For a doctor to perform this procedure, a cryogenic device is used to place liquid nitrogen on the infected area.  Liquid nitrogen is causes rapid freezing when in contact with living tissue.  It almost leads to a frostbite affect.  This cold, which is very intense, causes the hemorrhoid to shrivel up or get sloughed off over time.  After the hemorrhoid falls off, a new healthy tissue may grow up in its place.

The cold is intense and this procedure may be embarrassing, however, the benefits far outweigh these considerations.  Super Freezing is an effective, healthy and natural procedure.  There are no medications or ingredients used.  Further, the procedure is painless, the worst problem being the cold.

Doctors are recommending this procedure over some of the more evasive techniques.  It is an outpatient procedure with only rare occasions requiring hospitalization.  There are little to no side effects.

While this procedure should be performed by a physician, there are home self care products that are similar that allow you to freeze the area on your own.  These consist of cryogenic tools or applicators that allow you to apply cold to the area easily.

To begin, you place the applicators in the freezer for at least two hours.  The applicator is then very gently applied to the swollen area and is held to the area for approximately 8 to 10 minutes.  The applicators will remain cold for 5 to 10 minutes.  This is a great alternative to ice or an ice packet that would quickly melt.  In using cryotherapy, you may repeat the treatment up to four times a day and relief may be obtained in only a few treatments.  However, you should be patient as the alternative to this procedure is an evasive surgery.

Although creams and ointments may be effective, if an individual is sensitive or has allergies, an allergic reaction to the numerous ingredients in the ointments may cause more irritation to the affected area.

This liquid nitrogen procedure may only be used on external hemorrhoids; however, the applicators allow relief to internal hemorrhoids as well.  In using the applicators on internal hemorrhoids, you may require additional treatments.  If using any of these treatments, it is important to remember not to engage in the activity that led to the hemorrhoids, which may include constipation.
