Horse Chestnut Herb In Hemorrhoid Prevention

Prevention of unpleasant hemorrhoids can be possible through changes in our diet. Adding bioflavonoids to your diet can play a part in this prevention. Bioflavonoids can be found in citrus fruits such as lemons, grapefruits, oranges, and, to a lesser extent, limes, rose hips, apricots, cherries, grapes, black currants, plums, blackberries, and papayas. They can also be found in green pepper, broccoli, and tomatoes. Replace some of the processed food in your diet with bioflavonoids to aid in the prevention of hemorrhoids.

Horse chestnut can be taken as a tea or in capsule form. It can also be applied externally as a compress.

Horse chestnut can be taken as a tea or in capsule form. It can also be applied externally as a compress.

Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum), contains Aescin extract which has been found to strengthen vein walls, improve vein tone and reduce inflammation.

Here’s how to use it. You can make a tea and apply it directly to your hemorrhoids. However, do not drink the tea since it contains tannin, which tightens mucus and tissue and would cause constipation. Use it in powder form and mix it with oil to produce a paste and apply it to your anus area.

The extract of this seed contains aescin. This extract helps strengthen vein walls and improve vein tone, reduce inflammation, and improve vein elasticity. Aescin extract can be able to do this because it plugs the small leaks and holes in the veins and capillaries.  Aescin begins working almost immediately it enters the blood stream, with measurable vein improvement occurring within a few hours.

This natural herb also helps reduce rectum swelling, which can be beneficial to treatment and prevention of hemorrhoids.

It’s most useful when poor circulation is a major contributing factor to hemorrhoids and can help with overall circulation problems.

* People with an allergy to the horse chestnut family, bleeding disorders, or people taking blood thinners should not take horse chestnut

While rare, side effects can include kidney damage, liver damage, and severe bleeding or bruising.
