Anal intercourse may be the cause of an individual’s hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can be painful, uncomfortable and may disrupt normal daily activities.
There is a bit of a difference in opinion regarding whether or not anal sexual intercourse is the cause of hemorrhoids for some individuals. Everyone agrees that anal sexual intercourse is definitely an irritant to pre-existing hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids can occur at any age and experts are still uncertain of the exact causes
Hemorrhoids can be described as a painful mass of distended or swollen veins in the lining of the anus and rectum, which is the result of the formation of varicose veins around the anus.
Internal hemorrhoids occur at the junction of the anus and rectum and are covered with mucus membrane. External hemorrhoids occur just outside the anus and are covered with skin.
Sometimes, an internal hemorrhoid may prolapse or protrude to the outside, which cuts off the blood supply. Internal hemorrhoids are more easily treated. External hemorrhoids may go away on their own, however, if they reoccur often or will not go away, they may have to be surgically removed.
Hemorrhoids can cause itching, burning and bleeding during bowel movements. They do not cause cancer, but may be a result of cancer of the colon or rectum. Any time an individual experiences anal bleeding, he or she should be examined by a healthcare professional in order to rule out cancer.
Small tears in the mucus lining of the anal canal is called anal fissures. Anal fissures can be a result of passing a large hard stool and can be extremely painful, particularly during bowel movements. Typically, when this happens, bright red blood will be present on the stool, in the toilet or on the toilet paper after the individual has wiped. An anal fissure may be compared to a paper cut. Just like with a paper cut, each time you use the area where the anal fissure is located, the anus is stretched and the fissure may be reopened. This can cause more symptoms. Stool softeners and topical treatments are often used to treat anal fissures. If these methods of treatment do not work, the patient can typically seek treatment with an outpatient surgical technique.
Other causes of anal fissure are severe diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease and sexually related trauma. Once the skin is torn, each subsequent bowel movement will be painful. The tear doesn’t have to be very big in order to cause a great deal of discomfort and pain.
Your doctor will be able to perform a series of tests to determine if you suffer from an anal fissure.
