The combination of the weight, downward muscular force and lack of upward support may cause the anal veins to swell to extremely high levels, which contributes to hemorrhoids.

Eating a diet high in fiber is extremely beneficial to hemorrhoid prevention. Fiber helps your stools to remain soft, which may mean avoiding chronic constipation.
You should also make sure that you are getting up and moving around about every two hours or so. Avoid slouching while sitting and think about placing a footstool near your toilet to use while sitting on the toilet. Raising your feet causes your pelvic floor muscles to contract and support the interior of the anal canal more, which takes the strain off of the veins.
